Le sorcier Harry Potter revient cette année au grand écran dans une nouvelle aventure intitulée Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Dans ce nouvel opus, Harry débute sa sixième année et découvre un mystérieux grimoire sur lequel est inscrit « ce livre appartient au prince de sang-mêlé ». C'est ainsi qu'il en apprend plus sur le sombre passé de Voldemort.
Le film est réalisé une fois de plus par David Yates. Ce dernier a travaillé sur Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, qui a amassé plus de 290 millions $ au box-office américain à sa sortie en 2007.
Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Alan Rickman, Tom Felton, Michael Gambon et Helena Bonham Carter sont de retour au générique.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I et Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, tout deux inspirés du septième et dernier livre de la série écrite par J.K. Rowling, sont prévus respectivement pour 2010 et 2011.
