Les nommés dans chacune des catégories de la 89e cérémonie des Oscars ont été annoncés mardi matin. Le film La La Land domine avec un nombre impressionnant de 14 citations. Seuls les films Titanic et All about Eve étaient aussi parvenus à obtenir ce nombre impressionnant de nominations par le passé. On se rappellera que Titanic avait remporté 11 statuettes en 1998 alors que All about Eve a terminé sa course avec 6 trophées en 1951.
Arrival, le film du Québécois Denis Villeneuve, impressionne également avec des nominations dans huit catégories, dont « meilleur film ». Villeneuve est le premier cinéaste québécois à obtenir une nomination dans la catégorie « meilleur réalisateur » aux Ocars.
Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water, Hidden Figures, Lion, Manchester By the Sea et Moonlight se retrouvent également en lice pour le trophée du meilleur film.
