Dwayne Johnson dans The Fate of the Furious - Universal Pictures
Depuis qu'on a annoncé que Universal Pictures produira un spinoff de la franchise Fast and Furious, la toile s'est emballée. Certains étaient heureux de voir cette série se poursuivre alors que d'autres - la plupart - ont exprimé leur exaspération de constater l'immortalité de cette franchise.
Via Instagram, Dwayne Johnson a expliqué pourquoi il avait accepté de participer à un spinoff sur son personnage de Hobbs.
« J'ai énormément de respect pour cette franchise que j'ai appris à aimer au fil des ans et ma vision est de créer de plus grandes opportunités non seulement pour mes camarades de jeu, mais aussi pour d'autres acteurs incroyables qui ont envie de faire quelque chose de nouveau et de cool.
Je veux utiliser mon spinoff pour créer de nouveaux personnages que les fans aimeront sur différentes plateformes; film, TV, digital, réalité virtuelle, etc. »

Le snipoff en question, qui s'intéressera aux personnages joués par Dwayne Johnson et Jason Statham, prendra l'affiche à l'été 2019, alors que la sortie de Fast and Furious 9 a été repoussée à 2020.
