If Soderbergh is indeed retiring, this will be his swan song in the movie theaters, and a not entirely inappropriate one-- the crisp digital cinematography, fine performances and air of cynicism about the modern world are perfectly Soderberghian.

I don't fault it for trying to be nimble with its twists, but there is such a thing as one (or two or three) twist too many.

Soderbergh has sent out Side Effects with a memorable sting in its tail. There is a side effect to this movie, but it's one that I think most film junkies can live with: You can't get it out of your head.
