Once again, what success there is with Horns is heavily due to Radcliffe. Since his Harry Potter days, he continues to grow and challenge himself as an actor, and he is terrific here.

This one had the makings of a supernatural mind-bender perfect for Halloween and other scary nights. Get over it. French director Alexandre Aja lets his preference for cheap horror tricks overcome a blazing visual style that deserves encouragement.

A fable-like horror mystery with strong comic and romantic tendencies, Alexandre Aja's Horns draws on source material by cult scribe Joe Hill to deliver something much more beguiling than the straighter genre fare that made his name. 

Essentially, Horns was a bit of a disappointment. There are moments where Aja creates captivating scenes. His slick sensibility and gift for haunting cinematography are evident.
