Alerte à Malibu

Zac Efron, tout en muscles, vroumme vroumme sur le pilote automatique. Le charismatique Dwayne Johnson maintient sa grosse tête hors de l'eau.

La salle ne ment pas. Bien que quelques rires brefs se soient fait entendre, beaucoup de gags demeuraient incompris. L'humour souvent prévisible, parfois exagéré en longueur, nuit au rythme déjà déficient du film.  

A big-screen reboot so lifeless and mechanical that even its end-credits outtakes are not amusing, Baywatch proves much less than the sum of its undeniably attractive body parts.

Aside from some mild laughs that come from the alpha-dog friction between Johnson and Efron, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift's script is a lazy barrage of sad-trombone product-placement gags and red-band boobs-and-boners jokes. 

Baywatch is dumb fun. Sure maybe sometimes it is just plain dumb, but there is enough here for fans of hotties in swimsuits for sure.

Baywatch certainly has the requisite number of pretty people in swimsuits, and while that might have been enough for an hour long TV episode to get by, the feature film version finds itself lost at sea.

Playing up the insults and playing down the jiggle, a Dwayne Johnson/Zac Efron revamp of the cheeseball muscle-beach TV series is stupidly entertaining...for a while.

But as I said, if you saw the trailer, you got the best the movie has to offer. 

Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron prop up this self-aware summer jigglefest as long as they possibly can.
